Geo-fence Assignments
Triggering automated actions by linking vehicles to geo-fences.
What is a Geo-fence Assignment?
This is where the power of geo-fencing comes to life. A Geo-fence Assignment (also called a "rule") is where you connect a vehicle to a geo-fence and tell the system what to do when that vehicle crosses the boundary.
Why are Assignments Useful?
If a geo-fence is just a line on a map, an assignment is the engine that makes that line do something. This is the core of location-based automation.
- Automate Workflows: Instead of an employee watching a map all day, the system can automatically send an email to a manager when a delivery truck returns to the depot.
- Enhance Security: If a vehicle is moved from a secure yard without authorization, the system can instantly immobilize the engine and notify security personnel.
- Proactive Communication: Set up a rule to notify a site manager when a maintenance vehicle enters their geo-fenced area, so they know help is on the way.
